Basingstoke business launches new trainee programme

A Basingstoke business has welcomed the appointment of its new trainee sales assistant to meet the growing demands of the business.

Stacey Chandler from Basingstoke, has joined Martins Van Centre and will now begin an 12 month intensive training programme.

The 21-year-old has grown up in the motor industry with her father and brother competing in “Banger Racing” and other family members owning garages.

For the past three years Stacey has worked for Martins Volkswagen in the passenger car division, as a customer chauffeur, but always wanted to further  her career.

She said: “I have always wanted to work in motoring and this new role will give me a thorough understanding of the industry. I am delighted to get this opportunity from Martins Van Centre and I’m really looking forward to the challenge.”

The company believes it is vitally important to invest in the future and felt Stacey demonstrated excellent potential as Andrew Lean, Martins Van Centre’s head of business, explained.

He said: “Our aim is to develop young individuals by creating a clear framework in which to nurture their passion and skills. Stacey will complete a series of block placements through the Volkswagen Training Academy and will also have a dedicated mentor to assist her through the process.

“Our previous training programmes have focused on single aspects of the business but we felt Stacey’s passion and persona was more suited to an inclusive approach. We feel she will be a great asset to the Volkswagen business.”
