Campervan demand shifts up a gear in hertfordshire

Extra bank holiday fuels excitement for ‘staycations’
The trend over the past few years to holiday in Britain rather than abroad – the staycation – has being cited as the reason for an increasing number of visitors through the doors at a Hatfield-based van retailer.
Staff at Hatfield Volkswagen Van Centre dedicated Volkswagen commercial vehicle site, are gearing for the arrival of the new California Beach model. They have welcomed swathes of potential buyers to the van centre over recent weeks who are keen to register their interest and catch a glimpse of Volkswagen’s latest iconic camper van.
Paul Mills, head of business at Hatfields Volkswagen Van Centre, believes the economic climate has affected holidaymakers’ habits, with more people actively trying to cut the cost of their holiday by staying in the UK.
He said: “Britons are seeking greater value for money from their holidays by taking breaks at home and are looking for ways that they can do this in style.
“From talking to our customers, people are now taking a long-term view over how they are going to spend their hard-earned cash. They are choosing more spontaneous trips in the UK, rather than one overseas holiday each year and with an extra Bank Holiday this year to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, they’ll have plenty of opportunity to do so.
“We have found that people want cost-effective breaks where they can enjoy peaceful pursuits such as exploring parks, beaches and nature reserves and they feel that the new California Beach will make their trip around the country an even more memorable and unique experience.”
Volkswagen’s California Beach features seating options for up to seven people and sleeping for four adults.  It includes a manual pop up roof to reveal a double bed and mattress on sprung slats and the rear passenger seat makes room for two more adults to sleep in the vehicle itself.
Two chairs can be stowed in the tailgate, there are front swiveling seats and a table that folds away neatly into the side sliding door.
Paul adds: “The California Beach boasts a choice of two engines with BlueMotion Technology, meaning not only is the drive quieter and more fuel-efficient than ever before, but as buyers will be required to spend less money on fuel, they’ll have more cash to spend during their staycation.
“For customers who like to try before they buy our California rental service is growing in popularity with camper van fans testing out the vehicles capabilities in advance of making the purchase.
We are proud to be one of just a handful of van retailers to offer the California Beach and to help holiday lovers in Hertfordshire enjoy a cost-effective break this year and for many more to come.”
The California Beach is priced from £34,970 and Volkswagen has the confidence to offer a 10 year finance agreement.
