Four cyclists from Hatfield are gearing up to raise £4,000 for charity at the annual London to Brighton bike ride.
Dean Leighton, Tom Garofall, Nick Jacques and Danny Hart who all work at Volkswagen Van Centre Hatfield will take part in the British Heart Foundation ride, which last year attracted 27,000 riders and raised over £4 million.
The fundraising effort is being supported by the boss of Spire Automotive, owner of the Volkswagen van centre, who has pledged to match the money raised by the quartet.
The team, which is made up of technicians and sales executives will be supported by Volkswagen’s recently launched pick-up, the Amarok, which will be driven by their colleague, Sarah Norton, to ensure riders and bicycles return safely.
Team member and salesman, Dean, said: “We may have a range of cycling abilities but everyone has the same goal to raise as much money as we can.
“Everyone is fitting in training where they can and we are looking forward to absorbing in the day’s atmosphere.”
The London to Brighton bike ride takes place on Sunday 19th June beginning at Clapham Common, South London and finishing on the Brighton sea front.
