Housebuilder supports lifesaving appeal at Vulcan Park

A bowling club from Newton-le-Willows is a step closer to buying a vital piece of lifesaving equipment, thanks to a community grant from Persimmon Homes.

The North West regional business has donated £350 towards the Vulcan Bowling Club’s defibrillator appeal, to help purchase the equipment to provide emergency treatment to someone who has had a heart attack.

Sales director for Persimmon Homes North West, David Hodgson, said: “The bowling club is located right next to our new homes development, Vulcan Park, and when we heard that the members were raising funds for such an important cause, we were keen to support them.”

Stan Hughes is secretary of the club. He said: “We celebrated our centenary last year and have more than 100 members, ranging in age from a 12 year old to people in their late eighties. We think it is important, with many older people in the club, to have a defibrillator and someone trained to use it, so we’ve been raising funds.

“We are very grateful to Persimmon Homes for their donation.”

Anyone interested in supporting the Vulcan Bowling Club’s defibrillator appeal, or keen to join the club, can contact them on 01925 223149.

Vulcan Park, off Wargrave Road, is the latest site from Persimmon Homes, offering three and four bedroom homes to suit a wide range of buyers.

David Hodgson said: “This is a great location, ideal for local amenities, schools and transport links, including direct rail links to Manchester and Liverpool.

“Newton-le-Willows itself has a picturesque high street with shops, bars and restaurants, and is only a short drive from Haydock Racecourse and Langtree Stadium, home of St Helens rugby league club.”

Early plots available at the site range from the three bedroom ‘Hanbury’ style house for just £109,596* with Help To Buy shared equity, up to the spacious four bedroom ‘Winster, with integral garage, convenient utility room, a useful study and a master bedroom with en suite bathroom.

David added: “At Vulcan Park we are able to offer Help To Buy, the Government supported shared equity scheme designed to help first time buyers onto the housing ladder, NewBuy mortgages which require just a five per cent deposit, and Persimmon Part Exchange, making it easier to trade up to a new home as well as saving time, stress and money.”
