KINGS LYNN VOLKSWAGEN LEADS FROM THE FRONT AT NORFOLK RELAY

A major car retailer led from the front at a prestigious sports event after supplying race organisers with a special vehicle.

Kings Lynn Volkswagen supplied the Round Norfolk Relay with a Volkswagen Passat Highline Saloon lead car, finished off in the event’s own branding.

Brand Manager Austin Seales said the company had been delighted to support the high-profile two-day event last weekend.

“The local community is very important to us and we have made it our company policy to support local teams and events in the area whenever we can,” Austin said.

“The Round Norfolk Relay is such a prestigious event in this area and we are honoured to be associated with it.”

Kings Lynn Volkswagen also sourced three vans from their sister site, Volkswagen Van Centre (Bury St Edmunds), for the event. These enabled the race crew to travel around the relay, transport equipment over the race weekend and use one as a mobile office.

Race Director Paul Sullivan said: “We’re extremely pleased to have the sponsorship and backing of a well renowned organisation like Kings Lynn Volkswagen. This complex event relies heavily on the generosity of helpers and companies like Kings Kynn Volkswagen who have provided us with a number of vehicles to get us through the weekend. We wouldn’t have been able to do it without them. The lead car looked fantastic, it really highlighted the occasion.

“This event truly is unique. It is the only continuous, long-distance relay in the UK athletics calendar. This year’s relay had 918 runners take part in 54 teams. As a result, we required some transport, and Kings Lynn Volkswagen did not disappoint. The vehicles they supplied us with fulfilled our requirements and were perfect for an event the size and scale of the Round Norfolk Relay.

The Round Norfolk Relay is an annual multi-terrain relay race that circumnavigates Norfolk. The course follows the county boundary over a distance of 197 miles, divided into seventeen unequal stages. The event started in Kings Lynn early last Saturday and covered Hunstanton, Cromer, Great Yarmouth, Bungay, Scole Thetford, Feltwell, Stowbridge and ended back in Kings Lynn on Sunday evening.
