Apprentice takes first steps on new career ladder

A young car enthusiast from Hereford has embarked on a three-year apprenticeship with the aim of becoming a top motor technician.

Sixteen-year-old Sam Bullock has been accepted by, Volkswagen retailer, South Hereford Garages to be the latest recruit on the technician apprenticeship programme.

Over the next three years South Hereford Garages will invest nearly £40,000 to train Sam through to technician status.

Sam is also joined by, newly appointed technician, Stuart Burton. The 29 year-old from Tenbury Wells brings 12 years of automotive expertise to the Volkswagen team and will provide valuable support in Sam’s training.

Sam, who has joined straight from Whitecross High School, is looking forward to achieving his new challenge.

He said: “I love all types of vehicles and to be selected to join a prestigious apprenticeship programme like Volkswagen’s, is simply brilliant.

“I am very grateful to South Hereford Garages for giving me this opportunity.”

South Hereford Garages, service manager, Paul Jones, said: “The arrival of Sam and Stuart reinforces our commitment in providing a first class service and will increase the workshop team to fourteen.

 “We are confident that Sam’s passion for cars and Stuart’s expertise will strengthen our service for customers.”
