Gloucestershire youngster given national award for customer service

A Gloucestershire youngster has been recognised for his outstanding customer service with a national award.

Sam Perkins, from Cirencester, who works at Northfield Volkswagen in Cirencester, received a gold accolade in Inchcape’s annual ‘Leading Lights’ awards.

Over three thousand people across the company’s UK businesses are nominated annually for a ‘Leading Lights’ award, but only 40 are recognised to a gold standard.

‘Leading Lights’ rewards Inchcape staff who have demonstrated outstanding customer service.

Remarkably the 19-year-old has only been working as a sales executive since 2010, after initially joining as a valetor in 2009.

He was rewarded with a weekend of luxury and pampering at a spa in Oxfordshire, followed by a gala dinner.

He said: “I’m stunned to have been given this award and still can’t quite believe it.

“The last year has been brilliant and I’m really grateful for Northfield believing in me and giving me the chance to work in the sales team.

“I’m looking forward to developing my career with Northfield Volkswagen and learning from the team around me.”

Mark Foulston, Northfield Volkswagen’s brand manager, said: “We knew Sam had some great qualities and potential but we never dreamed he would deliver such a balanced performance within his first year.

“He has unbelievable maturity and drive for his age, fantastic customer feedback, is a real team player and is well respected amongst his colleagues.

“Sam was the youngest winner at the event and is a great example of how much talent we have in the young people in Gloucestershire.”
