Local talent takes control at Sheffield business

A Sheffield business has shown its commitment to developing local talent by promoting one of its apprentices.

Steven Tawlks, who lives in Whitwell, is now workshop controller at Gilder Volkswagen Van Centre and is responsible for the site’s vehicle servicing operations.

The 27-year-old is a product of the dealership’s apprenticeship scheme and firmly believes that his career progression is down to hard work and the willingness to learn.

He said: “I’m delighted with my new position. I’ve always tried my best at everything I do and I think it goes to show that hard work and dedication pay off in the end.”

According to David May, Gilder Van Centre’s head of business, Steven’s promotion is a just reward for his professional attitude.

He said: “Steven is a true professional with strong technical knowledge. His consistent performance has impressed everybody here at Gilders. I’m confident that he will flourish in his new role.”
