Volkswagen men grow a mo for Maggie’s Centre

An group of 25 men from an Aberdeen automotive business are letting their moustaches grow wild in support of Movember.

The dedicated upper lip topiary crew from Specialist Cars in Aberdeen will be joined by colleagues from Dunfermline and Kirkcaldy and will donate their next 30 days growth to help to raise funds for the city’s new Maggie’s Cancer Caring Centre at Foresterhill Hospital, Aberdeen.

The Volkswagen retailer, which is part of the John Clark Motor Group, confirmed its commitment in supporting Monty’s Maggie’s Appeal earlier this year, which is aiming to raise £3million for a new, purpose built Maggie’s Centre.

This latest fundraising effort is guaranteed to raise a few eyebrows from customers as sales manager, Tony Lanni, explained.

He said: “We are delighted that so many of the team are taking part and helping to  boost our fundraising efforts for such a worthy cause.

“We expect the influx of moustaches will spark some interesting conversations with our customers and no doubt generate some laughs.”

The appeal is being led by Maggie’s and the Elizabeth Montgomerie Foundation, set up by 2010 Ryder Cup captain, Colin Montgomerie, in memory of his mother who died from the disease.

The Maggie’s Cancer Caring Centre will provide emotional and practical support to patients and loved ones from across the region.
