Two young savers from Tipton have been rewarded for their top artistic and linguistic skills having been announced as winners in the Tipton and Coseley Building Society’s annual Cash Zone competition.
With over 4000 members aged 16 and under, the Tipton’s annual competition consistently attracts a high number of young savers keen to prove that they have the X-factor when it comes to creative challenges.
Six year old Connor Lewis-Freeman and Leanne Hickman, 12, were selected by the Tipton’s judges as deserving winners of the under eight and over eight categories respectively.
Connor attracted the judges attention in the under 8’s colouring competition, while Leanne cracked a ‘fill in the blanks’ word challenge, with both winning a Nintendo Wii.
Happy with his new gift, Connor said: “I can’t wait to get home and start playing with my new game, I’m really excited!” Leanne added: “This is the first competition I’ve entered so I feel really lucky to have won the competition. I’ll definitely enter again!”

“It is increasingly important for youngsters to take an interest in their own personal finances and to be financially aware; the Tipton’s Cash Zone account offers a great way of introducing youngsters to the benefits of saving for the future, while also offering a lot of fun through our annual competition.”
The Tipton’s Cash Zone account is open to young savers under the age of 16 with a minimum investment of £10. Withdrawals can be made at any time and interest is paid annually on 31st December.
