Goodyear Blimp flies high for Soccer Aid

Sunday the 27th May will see the Goodyear Blimp take to the Manchester skies once again. The Blimp will provide a live birds eye feed for ITV’s coverage of the match between England and the Rest of the World for Soccer Aid 2012 all in aid of UNICEF, the world’s leading children’s organisation.

In its first outing for Soccer Aid, the iconic airship will team up with production company, Endemol, in its first outing for Soccer Aid, filming stars like Robbie Williams, Michael Sheen, Olly Murs, Gerard Butler and Will Ferrell. Football fans in attendance will find the iconic Blimp a familiar sight from its presence at a number of Premier League games during the 2011/2012 season.

Coverage starts on ITV1 from 6pm and there will also be an online feed. The Blimp will be high above Old Trafford Stadium to capture the atmosphere around the ground as well as following the player’s coaches leaving their hotel for the big game.

The Goodyear Blimp started its journey around the UK skies in March this year. It has been flying to further promote Goodyear’s long standing road safety message to motorists everywhere.

Michelle Fisher, Goodyear Brand Manager said: “It is fantastic that the Goodyear Blimp can help provide support for such a great event. Soccer Aid does exceptional work in terms of raising money for UNICEF’s work for children and we are proud to be providing coverage of this great event.  The Blimp will capture what should be an unforgettable day for both the participants and the crowd.”
