Sutton Rotary golf day raises highest yet

An all-time high of £6,200 was raised at the recent Annual Sutton Coldfield Rotary Golf Day sponsored by Cookes Furniture.

The day was a complete success with teams included celebrities from the football world as well as many local businesses turning up to take part.

Thanks to the sponsorship from Cookes Furniture this event was made possible so that local Sutton Coldfield charities are able to benefit from the largest fundraising event, organised by the Sutton Coldfield Rotary Club.

Being the seventh year of this event, success was at its highest as they raised an impressive £6,200 which will be donated to local Sutton Coldfield charities over the next 12 months.

In total 20 teams took part on the day with over a 110 people attending the dinner in the evening, where the prizes were awarded by Stephen Staunton ex Aston Villa and Ireland star, alongside Graham Cooke Managing Director of Cookes Furniture.

First team prize was awarded to Colin Gibson’s team who also received best golfer of the day winning a Trophy and voucher to spend in the club shop.

A raffle was arranged with prizes donated from local companies around the area, then followed by an auction. The Auction managed to raise an astonishing £1780, with a Sheree Valentine print as the star item, going for £475, donated by the Whitewall Gallery in Sutton Coldfield.

The Cookes Furniture Team who won 3rd prize hope to do better next year, when they have again agreed to sponsor the golf day. In these difficult times this is good news indeed!
