Primary school football teams secure new kit sponsorship

A Tameside school football team has been given an early season boost, thanks to a local business.

Manor Green Primary School has confirmed a one year sponsorship deal with the Smith Knight Fay Volkswagen in Hyde, which sees both the girls and boys teams for 9-11 year-olds receive a new kit, including shirts, shorts and socks.

It’s the first time in over four years that the school teams have been able to play in a new kit and they hope to wear it for the first time in the next few weeks.

Head teacher at Manor Green Primary School, Jackie Lomas, said: “Finding suitable sponsorship can be hard to come by, especially at the moment, which is why we are so grateful to everyone at Smith Knight Fay Volkswagen in Hyde.

“The children have been so excited about the new kit and when they all got to try it on, everyone couldn’t stop smiling.

“We operate on a tight budget so support from companies like this is invaluable to giving the children new kits, which we’re absolutely delighted with.”

The teams are managed by PE co-ordinator Lynn Holmes and sports coach Chris Willcock, playing regular games against other schools in Tameside and Greater Manchester.

Pete Alaimo, brand manager at Smith Knight Fay Volkswagen, said: “We feel it’s important to support the community in any way we can.

“We wish both the boys and girls teams at Manor Green Primary School the very best of luck for the season ahead.”
