Founder of family business honoured in new restaurant

As a Birmingham based furniture store begins the transformation of the old restaurant the directors have revealed the new name to be one that is very close to their hearts.

Edward’s was chosen as the new name in memory of the founder of family run business Cookes Furniture, and father to chairman Graham Cooke.

Cookes Furniture was established in 1946 by Edward Cooke, known as Ted, who built the business into the renowned furniture store it is today. Edward was joined by his son Graham, followed by his Granddaughters and their husbands, all of whom are still in the business today.

Vanessa Hoe, marketing director of Cookes Furniture and granddaughter of Edward Cooke, said: “Cookes Furniture is all about ‘it’s a family thing’ and Edward’s was the perfect name to put above the door of the new restaurant.

“It’s a name that has a connection to all of us here at Cookes and to many of our customers; it was a way to keep my granddad’s name alive.”

“We are all thrilled to be transforming the old Two Jay’s Restaurant into a brand new bar and restaurant and are looking forward to revealing all to our customers.”
