Housebuilder set to build funds for The Harley Staples Cancer Trust

One of Leicestershire’s leading housebuilders has nominated The Harley Staples Cancer Trust as its official charity partner for 2013.

Persimmon Homes North Midlands will look to raise vital funds for the charity as it holds a number of fundraising activities throughout the year.

Harley Staples was aged just eight when he died from a rare and aggressive form of leukaemia.  Since then his parents, Katherine and Jamie Staples have worked tirelessly to set-up a holiday home for other cancer sufferers in his name.

In 2012, The Harley Staples Cancer Trust won £250,000 in a national competition run by Persimmon Homes to make Harley’s House a reality.

Katherine Staples said: “We will never be able to thank Persimmon Homes enough for their ongoing generosity and support.  No words can describe how much this truly means to us.  We are now actively looking in the Leicestershire area for a plot of land or barn conversion to build Harley’s House.  This will give children and teenagers with cancer the opportunity to spend time with their families away from the hospital.”

Paul Hurst, managing director for Persimmon Homes North Midlands, said: “We are delighted to announce The Harley Staples Cancer Trust as our nominated charity for the year.  Both Katherine and Jamie impressed everyone at Persimmon Homes with their charity efforts and we are only too pleased to offer our continued support.”

Persimmon Homes North Midlands has a range of properties available at developments in Countesthorpe, Thurmaston, Birstall, Stoney Stanton and Leicester.  The housebuilder also has developments located in Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and South Staffordshire.
