New homes in demand across Swindon

The Swindon property market has never looked better with one regional housebuilder firmly opening the door to prospective new buyers across the region.

Pauline Fletcher, Persimmon Homes Wessex sales director, welcomes the news as the housebuilder continues to open new developments to meet the growing aspirations of homebuyers.

“There is a high demand for good quality new-build accommodation,” said Pauline.  “This is evident at both our Hazel Ridge and Wichelstowe developments where our sales rates have exceeded all expectations.

“We’ve had lots of interest from investors, first time buyers and even those who are thinking of retiring.  What appeals to these buyers is the affordable range of two, three, four and five bedroom homes.  Having seen the plans and viewed the development in person they soon found a home that fitted perfectly within their lifestyle.”

The success of Hazel Ridge and Wichelstowe is testament to Persimmon’s reputation to build quality homes that meet the growing aspirations of homebuyers; something you won’t find from any other housebuilder.

Buyers wanting to secure a foot on the property ladder will be pleased to know that Persimmon Homes Wessex has recently been awarded a further allocation of FirstBuy; the Government scheme, which aims to help first time buyers with smaller mortgage deposits.

Pauline continues: “FirstBuy has made a huge difference.  It enables first time buyers to purchase their dream home with an equity loan for 20 per cent of the purchase price from Persimmon and the Government.  They will then need to put down a five per cent deposit and raise a mortgage for the remaining 75 per cent. There is no interest to pay on the equity loan for the first five years.”

Another attractive housing initiative that is helping buyers is NewBuy; the Government backed mortgage scheme that helps people to buy a new home with only a five per cent deposit.

“NewBuy removes the obstacle of having to find a large deposit, which has been a key factor in holding back the housing market in recent years” said Pauline.  “The scheme opens up a 95% mortgage product, but more importantly it has no salary cap and is available on new homes up to the value of £500,000.”

For those struggling to sell their property,  Persimmon’s part exchange scheme is also proving a popular choice, as Pauline explains: “We know it can be a little frustrating waiting for the sale of a property and many lose the opportunity to buy their dream home because of this.

“At Persimmon Homes Wessex, we don’t delay.  Through our part exchange scheme we can speed up any move by promising to have an offer for the buyer’s current property within 48 hours of them choosing a new home.”

Persimmon Homes Wessex has been working hard to complete new homes for both families and individuals by creating new communities across Swindon, but there has never been a better time to own your own home than right now.
