Bagworth housing development named in loving memory of Harley Staples

Thanks to the actions of Persimmon Homes North Midlands, work is now underway to not only build a thriving new community, but to keep the memory of one brave little boy alive.

The Leicestershire housebuilder were so touched by the work of The Harley Staples Cancer Trust that they have named their new residential development in Bagworth ‘Harley’s Place’ in his honour.

Harley died in November 2009, when he was eight years old, after being diagnosed with a rare form of leukaemia 10 months earlier.  His mother and father, Katherine and Jamie Staples, set up the charity after his death, and their dream of setting up a holiday home for other young cancer sufferers came true after winning £250,000 in a national charity competition set-up by Persimmon Homes in 2012.

Katherine, founder of the Harley Staples Cancer Trust, said: “We are delighted that Persimmon Homes North Midlands want to name their newest development in memory of Harley.

“Persimmon Homes has shown us just how hard they work to help the local communities in which they build.  Without their 40th Birthday competition, we wouldn’t have experienced such exposure, which is a real coup as we strive to spread our charity message as far and wide as possible.”

Not only are Persimmon Homes North Midlands naming their newest development after Harley, but for every home sold at Harleys Place £100 will be donated to the charity.

Sherrie Hankin, head of sales for Persimmon Homes North Midlands, said: “We couldn’t think of a more fitting tribute than to name our newest development Harley’s Place.  As our nominated charity for 2013, this is just the start of our continued efforts to support The Harley Staples Cancer Trust.”

Located off Jackson Road in Bagworth, ‘Harley’s Place’ is a development of 56 two, three and four bedroom homes.  Schemes such as Help to Buy, NewBuy and Part Exchange are all available to help buyers take their first step or move up the property ladder with ease.  Prices start at £134,995.
