Merseyside business driving youth sport participation

A Merseyside company is looking to boost youth sports clubs by offering a number of sponsorship packages.

The move is part of Volkswagen Van Centre Liverpool’s community and family programme, which is supported by its parent company, Swansway Garages.

Based in Speke, Volkswagen Van Centre Liverpool is inviting local sport teams and clubs to stake a claim for support.

Dave Cowan, head of business at Volkswagen Van Centre Liverpool, said: “The local community is extremely important to us and as Swansway Garages is a family owned and run business, we’ve made it our company policy to support local sport teams where we can.

“Whether you’re a football, cricket, hockey, netball or rugby club and are looking for sponsorship to help increase the number of children playing sport, then we want to hear from you.

“The money can be used for anything, as long as it benefits the local community and helps encourage new members; this could be anything from a new kit to help with renovating a training facility.

“While we’re hoping to help numerous clubs in the surrounding area, this will depend on the level of support, through our sponsorship scheme, that a team requires.”

To apply for sponsorship go to www.liverpoolvwcv.co.uk/sponsorship and fill in the online form, giving the reasons why your team or club deserves sponsorship. This will include the team’s name, an overview of the club’s history, plus its size and training location.

The closing date for entries is 31st May 2013.

Dave added: “We’re very much looking forward to supporting up-and-coming sports groups and hope that these sponsorship opportunities will help raise the profile of the region’s sporting talent.

“One day soon we may find someone who will represent our country and win Olympic gold medals!”
