Nantwich youngster aims for number one with help from Volkswagen

A teenage water sports specialist rated as one of the leading UK performers in her age group is riding the crest of a wave after securing sponsorship from a Crewe business.

Crewe Volkswagen is supporting Nantwich’s Morganne Shone in her quest to become the UK’s Junior Women’s wakeboarding number one, as she continues to develop her high-speed water skills.

Morganne, who is currently studying for a B-TEC in Adventure Sports at Reaseheath College and hopes to go on to study at Plymouth University.

She is currently ranked third in the country but hopes to improve that position in four major events between June and October.

To further assist with her travel to wakeboarding events, Morganne has also recently purchased a Volkswagen up! from Crewe Volkswagen.

“It’s fantastic news that Crewe Volkswagen will be supporting me throughout 2013 and I’m very grateful to them for their assistance,” said Morganne who is also a qualified scuba-diver.

“It’s a dream of mine to become number one in the UK and this support will certainly help me try to achieve that.

“The Volkswagen up! has been perfect for me since I’ve had it, after just passing my test.

“Not only is it economical, is low on tax and the perfect investment for a first-time driver, it is also incredibly spacious and carries all my wakeboarding equipment without any problems.”

As well as the up!, Morganne’s family own three further Volkswagens – a California campervan, 1964 Cabriolet and 1978 Beetle Saloon.

Ben Gilbert, Crewe Volkswagen’s brand manager, said: “We are delighted to have the opportunity of backing Morganne on her wakeboarding adventures during this year.

“Morganne and her family are huge supporters of Volkswagen and we look forward to watching her progress over the remainder of the year as she aims to become the best in the UK.”
