Promise of new homes at iconic site

Leading housebuilder Persimmon Homes is set to launch a further phase of 41 properties at the iconic former Goodyear site in Wolverhampton.

The latest properties will be built on the land previously home to Promise House, fronting the Stafford Road and next to the new Gatehouse pub.

Stephen Cleveley, sales director for Persimmon Homes West Midlands, said: “Our Akron Gate development on the old Goodyear site has been phenomenally successful, with more than 75 homes already occupied.

“This new plot of land, on the other side of the road to the main part of the development, will deliver nine two bedroom houses and an L-shaped block of 32 apartments facing out onto the Stafford Road. We aim to start work on site – which will be known as Promise House – in October of this year.

“Overall, more than 300 homes are planned for this location in conjunction with St Modwen, alongside the pub and Aldi supermarket that are already proving popular with the local community.

“The transformation of the site is brilliant to see, breathing new life into this part of the city, especially with the i54 enterprise zone just up the road, bringing hundreds of new jobs to Wolverhampton – it creates a real buzz of excitement about this end of town.”

The sales office at Akron Gate is open seven days a week, with properties available from just £99,950. Buyers can access the Government’s recently-launched Help To Buy shared equity scheme or Persimmon’s part exchange assistance.
