PERSIMMON HOMES SUPPORTS CHILDREN’S CHARITY

A Midlands based charity which offers care and support for life limited and life threatened children is set to have its funds boosted by a leading house builder in the region.

Persimmon Homes South Midlands has selected the Acorns Children’s Hospice Trust as its nominated charity for 2013.

Throughout the year, Persimmon Homes will support the charity with various activities to raise the vital funds they require to keep the much-needed hospice care and respite support available in the areas that they work. Plans are underway for a golf day, charity ball, and a very special development project at one of the hospices.

Acorns Children’s Hospice Trust currently provides a network of care and support for over 640 life limited and life threatened children and young people across the heart of England.  The support they offer extends to the families of the children who benefit from the much needed expertise and respite care that Acorns can provide.  They are currently supporting over 900 families including those who are bereaved.

Currently running three hospices in Selly Oak in Birmingham, Walsall and Worcester, Acorns relies heavily on voluntary donations and fundraising to help them to provide tailored nursing care for each child; short breaks, emergency and end of life care.

Ellie Griffiths, corporate fundraising manager at Acorns, said: “Our vision is to help provide care and support to the estimated 2,000 plus local life limited and life threatened children and their families in our region.

“The commitment and enthusiasm of organisation such as Persimmon is vital in enabling us to continue to operate our services. We look forward to working with them and wish them every success with their fundraising.”

“Alison Reading, sales director at Persimmon Homes South Midlands, said: “Acorns is an inspirational and deserving cause, and one we at Persimmon Homes South Midlands are proud to have as our chosen charity for the second consecutive year. With a team of only six volunteers working endlessly to help local people with autism and their families in the area, we hope to build our relationship with the organisation and show our support for the crucial work they do.”

Persimmon Homes South Midlands is delivering quality new homes across Birmingham, Coventry, Malvern, Stratford, Redditch, Rugby, Smethwick, Marston, Ross on Wye and Worcester.
