Cheque presentation to Macmillan

A leading Midlands house builder has handed over more than £5,000 to Macmillan Cancer Support.

The cheque, for £5,719.38, represented £2,859.69 raised by staff at Persimmon Homes West Midlands through a series of events, and match funded by the company.

It was presented by Persimmon’s director in charge Tim Brickley to Eloise Davidson from Macmillan at the opening of the company’s new show home at its Silvermere Park development in Sheldon, Birmingham.

Mr Brickley said: “We’re a small region compared to some of the others in the Group – last year the average number of employees here was 54 with half of those on site – so to raise this amount of money was absolutely brilliant.

“By far the biggest fundraiser was a coast to coast bike ride by our technical manager Phil Tiley who along with two friends cycled 156.5 miles from Seascale to Whitby through the Lake District in 11 hours 21 minutes – a fantastic achievement that raised £1,088 for Macmillan.

“But we had plenty of other smaller events that together added up to our super total: £33 was raised from our Christmas card poster, an auction of show home items no longer needed raised £196 and the company supported tuck shop raised £382.51. The remainder was from various raffles, dress down days and challenges.”

Eloise Davidson, from Macmillan said: “On behalf of Macmillan Cancer Support I would like to say a huge thank you to Persimmon Homes West Midlands for their fantastic donation. Their fundraising will make a huge difference to our work and without the support of companies such as these we would not be able to continue our vital work helping local people who are affected by cancer.”

Silvermere Park is an exciting new development of 129 properties made up of two bedroom houses, three bedroom terraced, semi-detached and detached homes, and four different styles of four bedroom houses.

The fabulous show home is a detached Roseberry with integral garage, stunning open plan kitchen dining area, French doors out into the rear garden and a utility area, while upstairs is a master bedroom with en suite and three further bedrooms – all for just £229,950.
