MOTORCYCLE TRIAL SECURES VOLKSWAGEN VAN SPONSORSHIP

For the third year running two Volkswagen van businesses based in Aberdeen and Edinburgh have confirmed their support at an annual motorcycling trial spectacular, taking place at Kinlochleven in the Scottish Highlands.

Volkswagen Van Centre Edinburgh and Clark Commercials Aberdeen, both part of the John Clark Motor Group, is the Friday daily sponsor at the Pre ’65 Scottish trial, which will take place 2nd and 3rd May.

As part of its sponsorship, the Volkswagen commercial vehicle van centres, are providing a fleet of vans to transport event equipment around the 26 mile multi-terrain course as well as providing a sheltered area for the motorcycle scrutiny inspections.

The Pre ’65 Scottish trial, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary, is for motorcycles manufactured before 1965. The event tests competitors’ riding skills over observed challenging sections. The riders’ feet must remain on the footrests as they negotiate steep gullies, rocky streams and boulder-strewn borders and are scored accordingly on their performance.

Organised by the Edinburgh and District Motor Club, the over-subscribed trial attracts worldwide interest and precedes the Scottish Six Days Trial, which each day covers a 100 mile course with 30 observed sections over rugged tracks and public roads.

Colin Bruce, aftersales manager at Volkswagen Van Centre Edinburgh, is delighted that the company has renewed its support for the event.

He said: “This is an amazing event and is hugely popular with spectators, riders and our own staff so we are very happy to continue our involvement.

“We are delighted to be able to provide greater support this year than in previous years and are all looking forward to another memorable event.”

Anne Gordon from the Pre ’65 Scottish Committee, added: “It is very gratifying to be working with Clark Commercials Aberdeen again. We are grateful for their ongoing support which certainly adds to the event’s success.”
