Corkills Volkswagen are on the hunt for Wigan’s oldest model

A Wigan business is celebrating the launch of its £1million state-of-the-art car showroom with a hunt for the town’s oldest Volkswagen.

Corkills Volkswagen say that they will reward the winning vehicle owner by giving the car pride of place in the showroom at the grand opening event on 11 June and offering them the chance to try out a high-performance Volkswagen for a weekend.

Corkills Volkswagen’s brand manager, Jacqui Kaye, explains: “Nobody loves a Volkswagen like its owner so it’s no surprise that so many veteran models are still running around out there.

“Entries are already coming in and we expect the competition very popular among Volkswagen enthusiasts. Who knows what the winning car will be? It could be an Early Beetle, a camper or even a Kharman Ghia, but we’re definitely looking forward to finding out.”

The competition is just part of the forthcoming celebration of the company’s recent redevelopment which provides a relaxed contemporary setting in which customers can view the ever increasing range of Volkswagen cars.

The light and airy new interior makes it possible to display 10 models as well as accommodating an improved hospitality and servicing area making it a more pleasurable environment for customers.

Jacqui added: “We are very excited to show off our state-of-the-art showroom to our customers, but like with any new home it’s the finishing touches that make it feel more exciting and we feel displaying the winning retro Volkswagen on our launch night will definitely add a bit of glamour and a sense of history.”

To enter the competition, participants must send in photographs and dates of their retro car to heidi.roberts@corkills.com by 30 May 2014.
