Help not only to Buy but to Wed!

When she picked up the keys to a brand new house in Lenzie, Claire Costello got more than just a new home – she also got a proposal of marriage!

Because little did Claire know, boyfriend Matthew Bendermacher and Persimmon Homes sales advisor Tara Fitzpatrick had been quietly plotting behind her back to make it a moment she will remember forever!

“I picked up the keys to our new house at Woodilee Village and I was so excited,” said Claire. “The house was everything I’d dreamt of and I was so looking forward to moving in.

“I asked Tara for the keys and she asked me to make my way up to the house myself.   When I opened the door I saw the rose petals in the shape of a heart, the champagne and before I knew what was going on, Matthew got down on one knee, produced a ring from his pocket and popped THE question…”

Happily a stunned Claire said yes – and was even more thrilled when Matthew repeated the magical moment.

Matthew and Claire have been together just over 3 years and decided to sell their flat in Kirkintilloch to help them to save for a bigger house.  Matthew, Claire and 2-year old son Lewis, moved in with Matthew’s parents for eighteen months while they searched for the right house in Lenzie.

“We were looking for a new build home, because we really wanted to use the Help to Buy Scotland scheme. We thought that a 4-bedroom detached house was out of our reach but found that thanks to Help to Buy we could afford our Ettrick style detached house.”

“Using Help to Buy was the easiest thing in the world! With Persimmon’s help we literally didn’t have to do a thing. They put us in touch with their recommended financial advisor, sorted out all of the paper work and here we are with the home of our dreams. I really couldn’t be happier.”

Claire, a teacher at local school, Holy Family Primary, said: “This really is the home of our dreams, we have the most amazing views of the countryside surrounding Woodilee. There is a great sense of community here and we already know a lot of our neighbours who have children at my school which will be lovely for Lewis as he grows up.”

After celebrating their engagement with family the young couple plan to move into their new Ettrick style home over the next few weeks and will set a date for the wedding as soon as they have settled in.

Woodilee Village offers a range of properties to suit everyone, from 2-bedroom flats to three, four and five bedroom houses in the popular hilltop village location surrounded by countryside and close to local shops and amenities.

A number of buying incentives are available at the development, including Help to Buy, Home Change and Part exchange. The development is open from Thursday to Monday, 11am to 6pm.
