TRUCK AND VAN BUSINESS EXPANDS IN MILTON KEYNES

A Milton Keynes truck and van specialist has invested more than £1 million as part of a major expansion programme.

Truck and van specialist, Brian Currie, which has operated in Milton Keynes since 1975, has opened a new state-of-the-art Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles van centre creating five new jobs with more expected later this year.

The Bleak Hall van centre was given its seal of approval on Tuesday 29th July at its official opening.

The event was attended by Rose Butterworth, head of customer quality and network development at Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles UK, who officially opened the doors to new customers.

Brian Currie is a family owned and run business which began 39 years ago in Newport Pagnell, as a small commercial vehicle workshop. The company now employs more than 150 people and operates nine truck and van dealerships across Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire and Northamptonshire.

Brian himself began his career as a truck mechanic in Stockton-on-Tees before moving to Milton Keynes in the 70s to launch his business. He remains an integral part of the company’s ongoing success providing a very hands-on approach. His wife, son and daughter are also instrumental in the business operations.

The new, purpose-built van centre is located on a 1.2 acre plot. To provide the highest levels of customer service, the five vehicle showroom offers five workshop ramps and a VOSA accredited MOT testing area for class four, five and seven commercial vehicles.

Brian Currie, said: “We are continually monitoring the ever-changing demands of the truck and van industry to ensure we offer the very best service.

“Leading the team will be our new brand manager, John Collier, who has been in the commercial vehicles industry for 20 years. We have recruited a new experienced sales team and further roles are expected later in the years as we build the business.

“This is our first Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles site so we are delighted to be introducing the brand to our portfolio.  It will enable the business to enter new markets and provide a more comprehensive service for van operators in the area.”
