Volkswagen dealership staff get on their bikes for charity

A dozen staff from a Leeds motor dealership got on their bikes for a 225km ride in aid of sick, disabled and disadvantaged children throughout Leeds and West Yorkshire.

The group, from Sytner Volkswagen Leeds, cycled the Leeds-Liverpool Canal route to raise more than £2,000 for the Cash For Kids charity.

Brand manager John Steele said: “The ride took us two days to complete and was a real challenge for most of us. There were a few saddle-sore people coming back into the dealership on the Monday, that’s for sure!

“Cash for Kids is an amazing charity which makes a huge difference to children in our area.

Many of us have families of our own, so we are glad to be able to help, through fundraising events like this and providing a gift drop-off point for the charity’s Mission Christmas collection every December.

“We do have a fundraising page on Justgiving if anyone else could like to contribute and help us to help local youngsters.”

The Leeds Volkswagen cyclists included John himself, sales manager Gary Tissiman, business manager Stuart Maun and marketing manager Georgina Carbutt.

Helen Trueman and Teresa Tatum left their posts on reception at the Elland Road site to take part, along with service manager Roger Stott and sales executives Chris Tanner, Peter Robertson, Jamie Walker, Paul Moore and Paul Edge.

The ride took place over the weekend of 12-13 July with an overnight stop-off in Burnley.

Cash for Kids delivers events and initiatives to make a significant difference to the lives of thousands of children every year. More information about the charity click here.
