Volkswagen drive sponsorship forward for sports stars of Horringer Court Middle School

Horringer Court Middle School’s rising sports stars have successfully scored a major sponsorship deal with a Bury St Edmunds motor group.

Volkswagen Bury St Edmunds, based on Northern Way, joined forces with Volkswagen Van Centre (Bury St Edmunds) and Bury St Edmunds Audi to invest £1,500 to the local school’s sports teams. The money has been used to cover the cost of branded kits for the school’s basketball, football, netball, cricket, tennis and athletics teams which will be worn at all matches.

The sponsorship deal has given the school, who has a growing presence in sporting leagues across the county, a cause for a triple celebration. Not only have recently taken first place in the County Kwik Cricket Tournament but their U13 Mixed Tennis Team are county champions.

It is the first time the school has had any kind of sponsorship for any of their teams and according to the school’s head teacher, Tania Johnson; the deal is a real reward for how hard the teams perform in training and at matches.

Tania said: “It’s a privilege to be associated with highly regarded brands like Volkswagen and Audi as well as having the backing of a major local business.

“The students are delighted with their new kits. They have all been working exceptionally hard and this sponsorship deal has definitely given them the boost they deserve.

The three divisions, who are all part of the Marriott Motor Group, said they are honoured to have been approached to sponsor the talented teams.

Speaking on behalf of the group, Robert Rolf, brand manager at Volkswagen Bury St Edmunds said: “We are honoured to be involved with a local establishment who are making a name for themselves within Suffolk’s sporting arena. It is great to see the money going to youngsters who are working hard at something they are really passionate about.

“We are proud to be associated with the Bury St Edmunds Academy Trust, Horringer Court and wish their sporting stars every success.”
