It’s a family affair for Persimmon’s latest recruit

A housing professional from Thirsk is following in her parents’ footsteps by cementing her career in the building industry.

Emma Johnson, 33, has been promoted into the role of field sales manager for Persimmon Homes Yorkshire after spending three years as a sales advisor for the leading housebuilder.

After leaving her role in the chemical industry to complete a degree in Marine Biology, Emma was unsure of her future but, as her parents both worked for Persimmon Homes’ Teesside region; she had already gained a keen interest and understanding of the industry.

“Maybe it’s in the blood as it seemed a natural progression,” said Emma. “As my parents are in the industry family discussions would often be about house building and buying so I developed a clear understanding of what the job entitled.

“It really is a family affair as my partner also works in sales for the Persimmon Homes’ Teesside region and this seems to have stimulated my competitive side too.

“The diversity of the role is what I love as no two days are ever the same and all customers’ needs are different.

“I was delighted to get a job with a successful company like Persimmon Homes and naturally I am thrilled to be promoted. This is a new challenge and one that I will relish.”

Emma is now responsible for five Persimmon Homes’ developments in Bridlington, Pickering, Norton, Easingwold and Retford, and has many more coming under her wing throughout the year.

Her role oversees the developments’ performance and includes devising bespoke sales and marketing strategies for each site as well as supporting and training the sales advisors to ensure a thorough and informative service is delivered to customers.

Kevin Thubron, sale director for Persimmon Homes Yorkshire, added: “We have been very pleased with Emma’s enthusiasm, drive and business acumen. Coupled with her approachable style we feel these assets will help to strengthen our business.”
