Wrexham Volkswagen staff tough it out!

Five Wrexham Volkswagen colleagues proved that tough love pays off when they completed a gruelling obstacle course for charity at the weekend.

The Volkswagen quintet taking part in the Tough Mudder North West on Saturday, which attracted more than 13,000 entrants, were business manager Gavin Prigmore, sales executive Phil Sadler, sales manager Gary Wood, parts advisor Daniel Lancaster and sales administrator Miriam Smallman.

Together they hope to raise hundreds of pounds for Hope House Children’s Hospices – Hope House in Oswestry and Ty Gobaith in Conwy – which provide specialist nursing care in addition to practical and emotional support to terminally ill and life limited children and young people.

Tough Mudder events are hardcore 10-12 mile obstacle course challenges designed to test all-round strength and stamina and held all over the world. The North West military style course was set in the pictureseque Cholmondeley estate in Cheshire and involved ‘Mudders’ dunking themselves in ice cold water, getting electrocuted and trawling through thick mud.

Gavin said they were asbsolutely thrilled to have completed the course, and that months of tough training had certainly paid off.

He said: “The real highlight of the event was starting as a team and finishing as a team – we were all in it together. There were no mishaps fortunately – although the ice plunge was petrifyingly freezing!

“We really wanted to choose a local charity, and specifically one that involved children because we all have kids, so Hope House Children’s Hospices seemed like the perfect choice. Hopefully we can raise lots of funds for this wonderful cause.

“Everyone at Wrexham Volkswagen has been amazing in supporting us, and the business paid all of our entry fees which really generous. Our thanks to everyone who has supported us.”
