SCHOOL GETS GREEN-FINGERED BOOST FROM BUILDER

Children at a Leighton Buzzard primary school are enjoying green-fingered outdoor lessons, thanks to a donation from a regional housebuilder.

Persimmon Homes presented £250 to Greenleas Lower School, on Kestrel Way, to provide raised planters and gardening tools, so the children could learn how to grow their own plants.

Debbie Box, sales manager for Persimmon Homes Midlands, said: “Building new communities, like our Persimmon Court development in Leighton Buzzard, is not just about constructing the houses. It is also important for us to find out what local people need and want to enhance their neighbourhood.

“Greenleas School wanted to design and build their own garden, enabling children to get their hands dirty, be involved in improving their school environment and learning where our food and flowers come from. We thought that was a brilliant scheme, so we were thrilled to help their ideas bloom!”

The donation was made after Persimmon received an appeal for help from Jenni Nicholls of Greenleas Parent Teacher Association.

Jenni said: “Many of the children attending our school live on the Persimmon development as the houses are just minutes from our door, so we were delighted when the company agreed to help us.

“The funding has made a huge difference to the project and meant that already our reception year children are enjoying a valuable and fun outdoor learning experience.”

Persimmon Court, at Fieldfare, offers a selection of properties to suit a wide range of buyers – from one bedroom apartments to four bedroom family homes.
