Legal professionals toe to toe at glittering fundraiser

Leading members of the Midlands’ legal profession are set to go toe to toe in a glittering dance competition in aid of the Child Brain Injury Trust.

No5 Chambers is hosting the Strictly 9 to 5 event, where representatives of the Judiciary, the Bar, solicitors, clerks and other legal professionals will compete to lift the glitter ball trophy.

Strictly Come Dancing favourite Anton Du Beke is compere for the evening of dance and entertainment which is being held in Villa Park’s Holte Suite on Friday, June 5 next year.

The occasion will include a show dance from professionals, a drinks reception, dinner, charity auction and raffle, but perhaps the highlight will be performances from 10 volunteers, who are set to complete eight weeks of group dance training sessions before partnering with a dance professional for 14 weeks one to one training.

Tony McDaid, Practice Director at No5 Chambers, said: “We have been overwhelmed by the number of business colleagues here in Birmingham who have put themselves forward for dance training.

“It’s a huge commitment time wise, but it would seem that the opportunity to learn to dance from a professional and then showcase those skills to a room full of their peers has proved too good an opportunity to miss!

“We’re hoping our Strictly 9 to 5 is a big success, tapping into the pulling power of the ‘Strictly’ factor. The added bonus for us as a Chambers is that the evening should help us raise even more money for the Child Brain Injury Trust, one of our 2015 nominated charities.”

The Child Brain Injury Trust was established by a group of health professionals in 1991 to research and provide information regarding the effects of ‘traumatic’ injury on a child’s developing brain. It is the leading voluntary sector organisation providing non-medical services to families affected by childhood acquired brain injury across the UK. It receives no Government or NHS funding. The Trust has a national network of child and family support co-ordinators.
