Wrexham manager scoops inaugural award

An experienced manager with a leading Wrexham business has scooped a top award from one of the motor industry’s top magazines.

Gary Wood, sales manager at Wrexham Volkswagen, has been named a 2015 Motor Trader Rising Star in the title’s inaugural UK search for the industry’s leading movers and shakers.

The magazine launched the competition earlier this year to find those people already regarded as outstanding talents, with great business acumen who are seen as an inspiration to their peers. Judges said they were looking for hard working, forward looking and ambitious nominees.

“I still can’t quite believe that I have won,” said a thrilled Gary this week.

“It is a real honour to be one of first Rising Stars, and I’m chuffed to bits.

“Wrexham Volkswagen is a great place to come to work. We have a superb team here who are more like friends than colleagues and I’m sure that camaraderie contributes to our continued success.”

Gary, aged 35, has worked at the Rhosddu Industrial Estate business for three years and lives in Manchester with his wife of seven years, Joanne.

Brand Manager at Wrexham Volkswagen, Jane Hargreaves, said: “I’m really pleased for Gary, who thoroughly deserves this award.

“He has proved himself to be a hard-working and loyal member of our team here at Wrexham Volkswagen, who epitomises the company values of Caring, Honest and Proud.”

Wrexham Volkswagen is part of the family owned and run Swansway Group, who secured a hat-trick of awards in what is set to become an annual competition. Of the six competition winners, three were from Swansway: Gary, Emma Goodall, Dealership Marketing Manager based at head office and Josh Bloor from Crewe.
