TRIO TAKE TO OCHE TO MEET FORMER WORLD DARTS CHAMPION

Three Ealing residents pitted their darting skills against a former world champion to mark the opening of a new branch of a leading builders’ merchant. Husband and wife Fraulein and Richard Smith and Colin Field took on the 2008 BDO World Champion Mark Webster to mark the opening of a new Selco Builders Warehouse in Isleworth.

Webster was also on hand to cut the ribbon on the new Selco just off Worton Road, the 35th branch to be opened in England and Wales and the 19th in London.

The trio won special tournaments held in local pubs in and around the Isleworth area  to earn the chance to take on Webster – who is sponsored by leading trade paint manufacturer Leyland Paints.

The Smiths – from Hanwell – came through the qualifier held at the Griffin Inn Brentford, while Colin booked his match with Webster at Brentford’s New Inn.

All three players were beaten 2-0 by Webster in the best-of-three legs 301 encounter but revelled in the chance to take on one of the biggest names in the sport.

Mark Bootle, branch manager for the new Selco Isleworth, said: “It was a great launch day and the presence of Mark Webster brought an exciting atmosphere to the event.

“It was fantastic to give residents from in and around Isleworth the opportunity to take on a former world champion like Mark. We now look forward to providing the best service for tradesmen in Isleworth.”

The Isleworth branch offer an extensive range of  building materials, drainage, roofing, heating, plumbing and electrical products, a range of timber including a bespoke cutting service, doors and windows, ironmongery and fixings, decorating supplies, landscaping and fencing items as well as kitchen and bathroom showrooms plus Selco’s latest new initiative tool and plant hire.

As with all Selco branches, there will be an in-branch café, trade counter services, direct-to-site delivery options and van size parking spaces, all designed to make it easier for tradespeople to get onto the job as soon as possible.
