A Wigan car retailer jumped at the chance to go the extra mile for a loyal customer when she booked her 17 year–old car in for a regular service.
Enid Hanavan from Chorley, a long-standing customer at Corkills Volkswagen, couldn’t believe her luck when she was told that they would waive the cost of her service to thank her for her ongoing loyalty.
The 16V Volkswagen Polo has been Enid Hanavan’s pride and joy since the day she bought the top of the range model from Corkills Volkswagen back in 1998.
Enid said: “I couldn’t believe it- I thought they had the wrong person when they called. I just expected to pay for my service so it was a lovely surprise.”
At the time of buying the car seventeen years earlier Enid remembered that her car enthusiast son, Michael, had been keen for her to choose a sporty ‘hot hatch’ model that would be ideal for her daily commute to work and the 16V Polo hatchback seemed the perfect choice.
“I have never regretted buying my cars from Corkills”, said Enid: “Everyone is very patient and even after all these years they treat me exactly the same as they treat someone with a brand new car – they even collect and return my car when it goes in for a service which is very handy considering I live 20 minutes away in Chorley.”
Over the years the car has been Enid’s trusty transport, with the only modification being a CD player. It remains as it was back in 1998 with all original parts, an unused jack and spare tyre and the original dealer number plates.
“My car has clocked up over 65,000 miles but since retiring I don’t drive as much but can honestly say that it has never let me down. It has even become a bit of a celebrity featuring in Autocar earlier this year after my son Michael wrote into the magazine to highlight it’s great condition and original features. I genuinely wouldn’t part with it.”
