Firm wastes no time in buying 30 Euro 6 vehicles from MAN Truck & Bus UK

Ron Smith Recycling running 35 MAN units in 40-strong fleet.

Transport manager for the Feltham-based firm, Chris Long, said: “We have chosen MAN because we are pleased with the way we have done business with them in the past.”

The company is taking delivery of 25 TGM 18.250 4×2 fitted with Hyva kit, three TGS 35.400 8×4 Thompson Loadmasters and two TGS 26.400 6×2-4 Hyva twin bins.

“Everything stacks up in favour of MAN as far as we are concerned and we have dealt with them over a number of years and have not had any issues,” said Chris.

“The trucks we have had have all been reliable and real workhorses, while the service has always been friendly and individual and the parts are always affordable.”

He added: “The economy of the vehicles is also impressive, but when we asked out drivers which brand they would prefer they picked MAN too.

“The drivers, particularly of the 18-tonners, said that manoeuvrability is also a factor in their decision, the turning circles are tight, which is important when you are driving in urban areas.

“They are enjoying the comfort and storage available in the cabs too.”

MAN sales executive Ian Bonner, who works out of Cordwallis, Heathrow, added: “The bulk of the vehicles were from the MAN TrucksToGo scheme.

“The fact that we were able to provide vehicles for the client without waiting on lead times was always a bonus, but Ron Smith Recycling is a long established customer and loyal to the MAN brand.

“It is a tremendous testament to the brand that the drivers are choosing them over our competitors and that the MANs are favoured by drivers and purchasers alike.

“We certainly look forward to working with Ron Smith Recycling again in the future.”

All the new vehicles in the fleet are being fitted with side-scan cameras, audible left-turn warning device and cameras on the rear, front near and offsides, all linked to a DVR bank, to make them compliant with Transport for London regulations.
