MOTORING EXPERT SCOOPS NATIONAL CUSTOMER SERVICE AWARD

A Liverpool motoring expert has received national recognition after been named a ‘customer champion’ by a leading commercial vehicle manufacturer.

Billy Keir, from Anfield, received the award from Volkswagen Commercial Vehicle for his consistent attentiveness to customers’ needs at the Liverpool business.

The 57-year-old service advisor joined Volkswagen Van Centre Liverpool just two years ago and has certainly made an impression with customers as John Kilby, aftersales manager at the Evans Road van centre explained.

He said: “Billy is often unaware of how helpful he can be for our customers – it’s just his natural way. Many times he has offered to pick up and drop off customers vehicles from their home or businesses. He has such a rapport and trust with customers that they often want to speak to him directly.

“His personality makes him a well-liked team member, with customers and staff alike. He certainly deserves this recognition.”

With more than 30 years of automotive experience Billy started his career as a driving instructor before progressing to sales and servicing roles for various leading manufacturers.

Speaking of this award win Billy said: “I feel the happier I can make a customer the easier and more enjoyable my job is. I believe you just have to really listen to them.

“I was pretty surprised to receive the award because I don’t feel I do anything special, it’s my job to help customers. It’s certainly good to not only be nominated for the award by my boss but to also be recognised by the brand.”

Billy’s award win comes on the back of Liverpool Van Centre’s recent winning streak which saw the business scoop three national awards, for the second consecutive year, at the brand’s 2015 Performance Awards.

The van centre was awarded the highest accolade ‘Gold’  for its and hard work and customer service  as well as claiming the best customer Satisfaction Award and contributing to the Group Performance title, for the Swansway Group, who owns the business. Bringing the van centre’s running total for Volkswagen awards to an impressive 19, since it opened in 2011.

The Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles’ annual Customer Champion awards recognises the top 25 individuals across its 72 dedicated Van Centres and 28 Authorised Repair sites who go above and beyond to ensure they deliver service excellence every day. The individual businesses nominate their most fitting candidates with the brand rewarding and recognising the top 25 across the network.
