A Preston motoring expert has received national recognition after being named a ‘customer champion’ by a leading commercial vehicle manufacturer.
Rob Blundell, from Preston, received the award from Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles for his consistent attentiveness to customers’ needs at the Preston business.
The 33-year-old parts supervisor joined Volkswagen Van Centre Lancashire more than 12 years ago and has proved to be a reliable asset for both the business and customers, as Paul Hoinville, head of business at Millennium Road van centre, explained.
He said: “Rob’s has shown great dedication to his job. He not only manages the parts division but has an excellent rapport with customers and quite often works longer hours to make sure customer’s vehicles are ready on time.
“Rob’s length of service has made him a familiar face with customers and he is always happy to help out in other departments. He has already received recognition within the Swansway Group, which we are part of, so it wonderful that the brand also appreciates this worth.”
Having begun as an apprentice mechanic Rob built his knowledge and expertise with other leading automotive manufacturers before joining the Preston van centre in 2004, as the parts supervisor.
Speaking of this award win Rob said: “I was dumbfounded to find out I had been nominated and it made my day to be one of the winners.
“I really enjoy my job and love discussing the various accessories that customers can get. There seems to be a growing trend in customers wanting to enhance their vehicles and as vans are often their work vehicles is important I can get these accessories fitted as quickly as possible.
“I think I am just as excited as the customers when the vehicle is ready for collection.”
Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles’ annual Customer Champion awards recognises the top 25 individuals across its 72 dedicated Van Centres and 28 Authorised Repair sites who went above and beyond to ensure they delivered service excellence every day.
