The Cube announces top photographer

A Birmingham photographer is celebrating after being named The Cube’s Photographer of the Year.

Daniel Sturley was presented with the title and trophy during a special exhibition event held in the Atrium of The Cube.

The competition invited amateur and professional photographers to submit their favourite shots of the iconic building.

Showcasing some of the most breath taking images captured of The Cube, the event received more than 50 entries from talented photographers across the West Midlands.

The 12 finalists were invited to a special exhibition event on Thursday 26th May, where their images were displayed online and inside the Atrium at The Cube.

A panel of judges, headed by Christopher Pritchard-Wilkes, associate director of CBRE, scored each image on its impact, creativity and technical skill to find an overall winner.

Mr Pritchard-Wilkes said: “We were overwhelmed by the number and quality of entries received, each capturing The Cube in its own unique way.

“Daniel was chosen as The Cube’s Photographer of the Year as his work captures The Cube with such creativity. His use of colour creates a stunning visual impact that showcases how the building stands out in the cityscape.

“The exhibition evening was a great success, and we were proud to be celebrating local talent. We are looking forward to hosting many more events like this.”

Other members of the judging panel were Saranne Moreno, new business manager for The Cube’s chosen charity partner, Birmingham Children’s Hospital, and Birmingham Mail editor Marc Reeves.
