Early Rush For Homes On Site Of Old Shopping Centre

Construction Site - Sunny 2House hunters have wasted no time in snapping up new properties at a much-anticipated Cardiff development.

Persimmon Homes East Wales is building 57 homes on the former site of Maelfa shopping centre in Llanedeyrn. The scheme is known as Eastside Quarter.

The area is being completely rejuvenated with houses, retail units and a new public square in a project between Persimmon, Cardiff Community Housing Association and Cardiff Council.

The houses went on sale off-plan in November – and already seven of the plots have been reserved, despite Christmas being a quieter time in the property industry.

Persimmon Homes East Wales sales director Victoria Williams said: “There is a lot of excitement about this major regeneration project in Llanedeyrn and we are not in the least bit surprised that some of the properties have already been snapped up.

“There is huge demand for quality, affordable housing in Cardiff and these 57 properties won’t be available for long.

“A number of retail outlets at this site had been empty for some time and the area has been crying out for investment. It is going to be so much better once the work has been completed.”

Eastside Quarter offers a choice of two and three bedroom houses, ideal for first time buyers, young couples and small families. Help to Buy – Wales is available.

Persimmon Homes has experienced huge demand at its St Edeyrns Village just three miles away off Junction 30 of the M4.

Victoria added: “Anyone interested in moving to Eastside Quarter needs to act fast in order to secure their preferred plot.

“We are proud to be involved in a project which is going to make such a big difference to the people living in and around the area.”
