Vicky finds £10K treasure chest of prizes in Wiltshire village!

A Wiltshire sports coach has bagged a haul of tech goods worth £10,000 in a Black Friday nationwide treasure hunt.

Hundreds of people descended on the tiny village of Box in Wiltshire today in the search for a small black box hidden by technology giant Box.

Vicky Lunt from Wiltshire won the race to track the secret location and scoop the prize, which included a state-of-the-art TV, a games console, a smartphone and much more.

“I was in a state of shock when I saw the box – I don’t think I’ve ever run so fast,” said an excited Vicky.

“I cannot believe that I’ve won – Christmas has definitely come early. Thank you so much to Box for this amazing competition.”

Vicky works for a coaching organisation called in2sports that offers structured, enjoyable and stimulating sports activities to children aged 2-16 years.

And in a fantastic, festive gesture, she and the team at in2sports have pledged to share the Box goodies to help their work with disadvantaged children.

Vicky added: “The tech goodies will help with our coaching, as we’ll be able to use the recording equipment to help to improve the form of upcoming athletes.

“We’ll also use the prize to help disadvantaged children – it will make such a massive difference to the work that we do.”

Box managing director Mark Jordan said: “I want to say a huge congratulations to Vicky and her team, it’s great to see the prize go to such an amazing cause.

“The excitement had been building all week as people tried to work out the mystery location of the prizes. People travelled from across the UK and some even camped out overnight.

“We were overwhelmed by the response to the treasure hunt – it created a real buzz, especially amongst locals who said it was the busiest they had ever seen the village.

“We had thought about hiding the prizes in a big city but couldn’t resist the temptation of choosing the aptly-named village of Box, and we’d like to thank the local residents for being extremely welcoming.”

Box revealed the postcode of the secret location digit by digit on its social media channels from Monday this week.

There were also daily competitions for tech prizes, which thousands of people entered.

The top prize included an LG OLED55C8PLA 55 inch OLED TV, a Sony Playstation 4, a Somfy Home Alarm system, a Foscam FN310W-B4 WiFi Camera & NVR Kit, a Dremel 3D45 3D printer, a state-of-the-art Cube Gaming PC and a Samsung Galaxy S9 64GB EU Dual SIM Free Smartphone.

Other eye-catching prizes in the box included an Acer Swift 3 SF314-52-30QS, an Optoma H184X projector, a Playseat Challenge and a LG OK75 XBOOM 1000W One Body Hi-Fi Speaker.

Treasure hunters who turned up at the location but didn’t scoop the top prize were given special Black Friday discount codes as a consolation.

Box sells an extensive range of technology and computing products through its specialist website, www.box.co.uk, including laptops, desktop PCs, phones and tablets, components, monitors and printers.

The company has some amazing Black Friday deals with hundreds of pounds knocked off selected items.
