Silver anniversary for Fulwood man

A Fulwood man is celebrating after achieving a career landmark in April.

Mark Holderness marked 25 years in the automotive industry by looking forward to reaching 50 years before he retires.

The after sales manager at Lancashire Volkswagen Van Centre in Preston, has worked for a variety of manufacturers across the county since starting as an apprentice technician in 1987.

Since then the 43-year-old has progressed his career with roles including workshop controller, service advisor and service manager.

Mark said: “I’m thrilled to have completed 25 years in the automotive industry; it is very special landmark and one I didn’t even think about when I started out as a fresh-faced 18-year-old.

“My main focus is to continue the good work of everyone at Lancashire Volkswagen Van, especially the staff in the service team.

“Feedback from customers is vital if we are to provide the best service possible, while also ensuring people are aware of the competitive value of the workshop.”

Mark’s milestone has been recognised by everyone at the van centre, including the head of business, Paul Hoinville.

He said: “Mark has proved to be a fountain of knowledge for the team at Lancashire Volkswagen Van Centre and him reaching 25 years in the industry and his career progression is just reward for his dedication to learning.

“He provides colleagues with positive ways of improving, which in turn give customers a team of staff who are among the best in the country.”
