Customer service to improve by miles following new appointment

A Canterbury business has helped a young motoring enthusiast realise his dream of working in the automotive industry by offering him a full-time position.

Scott Lancaster, 19, from Monkton, has been appointed by EuroCanterbury Volkswagen as its new product advisor and will be responsible for helping to improve the retailer’s customer service.

As a product advisor, Scott will be 100 per cent focused on improving the customer experience. He will be the customer’s first point of contact and will meet, greet and filter requests so they get the best possible attention.

Commenting, Scott said: “This is my first time within the motor industry having previously worked for a national convenience store which gave me the knowledge of the inner workings of a business and also the confidence that is needed in this industry.

“I have had a passion for cars from a young age, from helping my father service a car, to help my parents purchase their vehicles over the years. I feel really lucky to be working in an industry that I’m genuinely interested in and I’m looking forward to getting my teeth stuck into the role.”

General manager Chris Evans added: “We were inundated with applications for this position and were really impressed with the amount of talented people there are across the region.

“We set ourselves, and our staff, exceptionally high standards and in addition to Scott’s academic achievements what impressed us so much about him was his passion to succeed and commitment to learning and developing his motoring career.

“In Scott, we have discovered a passionate individual who has a keen interest in the motor industry and I am sure he will go far with Volkswagen.”
