Sponsorship boost for charity

A High Wycombe charity has received a boost after receiving sponsorship for one of its biggest fundraising events.

Child Bereavement UK’s Snowdrop Walk in February will be supported by Citygate Volkswagen, enabling more of the money raised to go direct to helping bereaved families.

With the continued support of Sir Edward and Lady Dashwood, the 2013 Snowdrop Walk will once again take place in West Wycombe Park, where families can plant snowdrops in memory of someone special who has died.

Ann Chalmers, chief executive of Child Bereavement UK, said: “The Snowdrop Walk is in its 13th year and has been well supported over the years by local families.

“This year we’re delighted to have financial support from Citygate Volkswagen, which will mean more of the money raised by families on the walk can be spent supporting those bereaved of someone important in their life.

“As ever, we are very grateful to Sir Edward and Lady Dashwood, for their on-going support on this special day in Child Bereavement UK’s calendar as we plant the snowdrops in the beautiful grounds of their home at West Wycombe Park.”

The event takes place on Sunday 10th February and the grounds of West Wycombe Park will be open from midday until 4pm.

Snowdrops will be available for purchase on the day and charity staff and volunteers will be on hand to help with the planting at The Temple of Venus within the park.

Mark Hudson, brand manager at Citygate Volkswagen in High Wycombe, said: “This event is a lovely way for families to come together to remember loved ones and we’re pleased to be able to help in some way.

“A number of staff and their families, both from the London Road site and the Volkswagen Van Centre in Wooburn Green, will be taking part and we’re looking forward to what is a popular annual event.

“We hope as much money can be raised as possible to help those unfortunate to lose someone they love, far too early.”

Special activities for children will include a Rhyming Creature Hunt so youngsters can join in and find the missing rhyming creatures throughout the walk and receive a fun-filled goody bag at the end.

Hot food and refreshments will be available from West Wycombe Village Hall at the end of the walk, where some extra children’s activities will also be taking place including colouring and puzzle building.

Ann concluded: “It’s a lovely way to spend a Sunday in a beautiful setting and to admire the grounds of the park.

“Every penny raised will go towards our vital work supporting bereaved families, so please come along and join us.”

The prices on the day are as follows:

Adult: £2.50

Concessions and children over 3: £1.50

Children under 3:  Free

Children’s Rhyming Creature hunt: £1.00
