A growing family has won a race against time to buy their new dream home – thanks to Britain’s biggest house builder and the Government’s new Help to Buy scheme.
Nick and Alex Humble were desperate to move to a bigger house from their three-bed semi after learning they were expecting a third child.
The young family turned to Persimmon Homes to help their dream come true – and after taking advantage of Help to Buy are now the proud owners of a stunning three-storey four -bedroom home at the Moorlands development in Pickering, Yorkshire.
Alex, 26, who is expecting a daughter in November, said she fell in love with the new home the first time they saw it, and it was much bigger than anything the family could have afforded without Help to Buy.
She said the family – including two children aged three and nine – had been living in an old Persimmon home for the past three years, just one mile away, but needed more space for the new baby.

Using Help to Buy the Humbles needed only a five per cent deposit to secure the home, with a shared-equity loan backed by the Government covering 20 per cent of the cost.
“Help to Buy has allowed us to buy a bigger home than we could afford. With the help of the scheme we saved £40,000 and got the house for just £229,999. This is our dream home and we definitely see it being our ‘forever house’,” said Alex.
“We also took advantage of Persimmon’s Home Change scheme and were amazed at how straightforward the whole process was. After agreeing a selling price with two estate agents and Persimmon, we put the house on the market for £159,900. We sold it in just four weeks. Persimmon even paid our estate agent fees.”
The couple, who have been married for four years, say they fell in love with the design of their new home, which boasts a spacious master bedroom and en-suite covering the entire top floor.
“We love everything about the house. The layout and the style of the outside is stunning. We especially love the top floor. The fact that one whole bedroom and en-suite spans one floor is great. My nine- year- old step daughter has that room at the moment but once the little ones are a bit older, I can’t wait to get in there.”
