The HiQ fast fit network is so nuts about the return of the British Touring Car Championship at Oulton Park that is has commissioned 5,000 items of wacky headwear to say so.
The teams’ championship sponsors is stepping up its fundraising work for Breast Cancer Care for third successive season by creating the nutty headgear for fans, which features a spanner across the temples and the message ‘HiQ – nuts about the BTCC.’
HiQ is giving away the items in return for donations for the charity, which has benefitted from the generosity of Britain’s premier racing series over the last two years.
And to further whet supporters’ appetites ahead of a high octane race weekend in Cheshire, HiQ’s famous pink ladies will make a welcome return to the paddock, armed with the hugely popular HiQ project pink baseball caps, which will be available to pick up.
A grand total of £65,000 has already been raised by HiQ for the cause, featuring a huge fundraising push at Brands Hatch in October 2009 which raised £10,000.
A strawberry tea money-spinner at Oulton Park generated around £3,000, while the pro-active support from the BTCC’s volunteer race marshals has also been an invaluable source of charitable income.
HiQ’s marketing manager Geraldine McGovern said: “When we say we are nuts about the BTCC we mean it, so we thought we’d create an item of headwear to say so!
“These hats are a little bit different to the norm, so anyone wearing one will definitely stand out, which is exactly what we want.
“We were keen to create a piece of memorabilia that would bring a smile to fans’ faces, and something that they would really like to get their hands on.
“The fans of the series have been so supportive for so long, so we really appreciate all of their support and look forward to seeing them all at Oulton.”
