A managing director of a local Volkswagen retailer is hoping to secure a high finish in the British Historic Rally championship, which consists of four rounds in England, Ireland, Belgium and the Isle of Man.
Despite spending his days attending to the needs of customers at Corkills Wigan, Adrian Kermode has rallied for more than twenty years and is aiming for a top overall finish in the championship.
Adrian, who was the Irish Historic Rally Champion in 2006, believes the rounds will prove a challenge for him and his co-driver, Maurice Beckett, but is confident about the chances of success.
He said: “I’m really looking forward to competing in this championship, you drive not only to win but you need a finish to accumulate points. I have a fantastic co-driver and great car so no excuses!”
At February’s Chris Kelly Memorial Tarmac Rally on the Isle of Man, Adrian battled through extreme weather conditions to finish 1st in his class and 8th overall from a total of over 60 competitors.
But rallying is just one part of Adrian’s passion for all things automotive. Since 1991, he has been the head of car retailer group Corkills, dedicating his time to advising and helping customers on how best to meet their passenger car needs.
Adrian added: “I’ve always had fantastic support from all my family, friends, colleagues and even customers from Corkills Wigan. Hopefully, I can repay them with winning the championship.”
