Scheme aims to reduce congestion

A Crewe business has launched a new scheme aimed at reducing congestion in the town.

The Swansway motor group, including Crewe Volkswagen, has invested over £10,000 on providing cycles and bike sheds for staff to use pedal power for the commute to work, rather than the car.

A third of all Crewe Volkswagen staff are taking part in the scheme, hoping to save about 200 car miles on local roads during the morning and evening rush hours.

Crewe Volkswagen brand manager, Ben Gilbert, said: “This investment is designed to show Volkswagen and Swansway’s green credentials in as many ways as possible.

“Volkswagen’s growing range of BlueMotion vehicles provide very low CO2 emissions and high mpg, but this scheme is another way to prove our environmentally-friendly credentials.

“The added benefit is staff can keep fit and it also provides them with a bike to use away from work for free.”
