Top 10 darts player Mark Webster, visited his sponsor in Lutterworth last week in a warm up for the World Matchplay competition currently underway in Blackpool.
When Leicestershire’s largest plumbing and underfloor heating experts Uponor made a high profile move into new premises, a world champion darts star was quickly at the double to ensure the delivery men found their target.
Former plumber Mark Webster was invited to officially open the company’s new offices on Gilmorton Road, which will house 90 members of staff.
Employees were given the chance to challenge Mark to a traditional game of ‘501’ to open the premises in style.
And although no one actually beat Mark, a couple of players showed that they were no stranger to the oche.
Mark says: “I am very grateful to Uponor for supporting me and it’s great to know that they are pleased with the results they are getting from the sponsorship. Darts is increasing in popularity and it provides Uponor with a fantastic platform to reach its target audience.
“I really enjoyed meeting the staff and having the chance to play darts with a group of them. There were one or two decent players in there who put me through my paces!”
Peter commented: “We first met Mark in January when our sponsorship with him first began.
“Since then he has not only celebrated a number of successes on the oche, but has really come to appreciate our brand and our range of products as a plumber in his spare time.
“Receiving the signed shirt was a fantastic way to demonstrate our partnership with Mark. This week we have moved into our new offices on Gilmorton Road, bringing our head office functions together with the existing Training Academy and warehouse facility so we will hang our shirt a prominent place on the wall for visitors to see.
“We couldn’t have wished for a better person to help us unveil our new facilities and it was wonderful to welcome him back.”
A shirt sponsor since January, Uponor has enjoyed a very successful association with Mark who is now ranked number 10 in the World. In June he reached the semi final of the UK Open in Bolton and this week is competing in the World Matchplay competition in Blackpool.
