Technician reaches pinnacle of profession

A technician at South Hereford Van Centre is celebrating after reaching the top of his profession.

Tom Hulburd, who has worked at the Volkswagen Commercial Vehicle dealership since 2003, recently gained a master technician accreditation after completing a complex training programme.

The 26-year-old is the only master technician at South Hereford Van Centre and determined to pass his experience to the site’s apprentice technicians.

He said: “I am over the moon to I have reached the top of my profession and it’s extremely rewarding to know I can now pass on my knowledge and experience to the next generation of technicians.

“I’m very grateful to South Hereford Van Centre for giving me the chance to prove my worth, believing in me and for investing in my training.”

South Hereford Van Centre’s brand manager, Charles Richards, said: “Tom is thoroughly professional in his job and this qualification is a just reward for his efforts.

“He’s hard working, intelligent and the apprentices at South Hereford Van Centre are lucky to have a technician of his calibre teaching them.

“It costs approximately £100,000 for a technician to reach master technician status, but Tom is worth every penny.”
